Let’s replace the pressure we put on ourselves!
Instead of staring at a blank drawing paper and not knowing where to begin, let’s allow the past to revisit us - by using an age old drawing tool, a grid.
We’ll draw from a classic image, which your instructor will provide. Then, begin by using a ruler to draw one inch squares on our reference picture, and also one inch squares on our drawing paper. Using our reference drawing, we’ll duplicate, as close as we can, the lines we see in each square onto our drawing, using conte pencil on tinted paper.
While drawing, we’re asking ourselves, where does that line enter the square, where does it leave, does it leave, does it
merge and end, how close is it between this line and that line, how is it shaped? One choice, one decision at a time, and you’ll watch as your limiting beliefs around your drawing abilities begin to dissolve.
Now it’s time to surrender to your creativity, and take your next class!
Masks are required.
