Eclipse Center for Creative Community is hosting a Virtual art exhibit as part of the “Fall of Freedom” Nationwide Creative Resistance, opening November 21 & 22, 2025

Fall of Freedom, a bold, artistic movement in response to escalating authoritarian threats and censorship will debut across the United States on November 21-22, 2025. More than 500 galleries, museums, libraries, comedy clubs, theaters, concert halls, and individuals nationwide will host exhibitions, performances, and public events to highlight the urgency of this moment and to assert the power of free expression.

Eclipse Center for Creative Community (Lansdale, PA) joins esteemed participants across the country, from The Public Theater (New York, NY); Powerhouse Arts (Brooklyn, NY); and National Sawdust (Brooklyn, NY) to the Alaska Chapter of Authors Against Book Bans (Anchorage, AK); American Conservatory Theater (San Francisco, CA); Amherst College (Amherst, MA); RE/STRICT Film Festival (Detroit, MI), Counterpublic (St. Louis, MO); Epilogue Books (Chapel Hill, NC) and Dallas Contemporary (Dallas, TX). Individual participants will include numerous artists, writers, musicians, comedians and filmmakers including John Legend, Ava Duvernay, Michael Moore, and Marilyn Minter.

“Artists serve as a mirror to our lives, documenting our society, our political environment, the things we hold precious, the things that bring us joy, and cause us fear. Art gives us stories of love and loss, highlights our common ground while also revealing our unique individual perspectives and experiences. They are the historians of today and the inspiration for tomorrow. They are intrinsic to our collective humanity and we need them now. That is why we have chosen to participate in “Fall of Freedom” with a virtual art exhibition on our website and social media channels in addition to our planned Off the Wall art exhibit at Eclipse,” said Joanne Coppens, Director.

“Fall of Freedom is an urgent reminder that our stories and our art are not luxuries, but essential tools of resistance,” said Lynn Nottage. “When we gather in theaters and public spaces, we are affirming our humanity and our right to imagine a more just future.”

Initiated by a group of artists, writers, and cultural workers–including Lynn Nottage, Dread Scott, Cassils, Laura Raicovich, Hari Kunzru and Robert Longo, among many others–Fall of Freedom is an urgent call to the arts community to unite in defiance of authoritarian forces sweeping the nation. Through a coordinated wave of creative resistance, Fall of Freedom seeks to celebrate and assert the cultures and artistic voices that form the backbone of a free society.

Art matters. Courage is contagious.
